rio/brenda/tokyo/seats/mug/bike/newborn/coke/ocean and car upholstery

was amused to learn that olympic volleyball
will be played in 2016 on copacabana beach where i was mugged.
my mugger will be able to considerably increase his clientele.

the deluge of my first week of classes is subsiding.
daughter1 has been in fall camp during the days, and daughter2
continues in children's center. her teacher from last year,
miss brenda, retired after 31 years in that same job.
her retirement party rocked, as does the floral garden
that the kids planted in her honor, arranged by wife1.

visiting tokyo last week of January :)
Found these sites that describe seating and amenities
including whether seats have video-on-demand, etc:
http://www.seatexpert.com http://www.seatguru.com
will also try a new neck pillow as my old one leaked air.
new travel mug too, can't wait to show mom.

my commuter mountain bike of 15 years is in the shop
because i had worn the chain rings down to nubbins.
good time to get a shiny black lexus (thanks, sis!)
now i drive everywhere in my guilty pleasure, with
the sunroof open. looks like we'll drive the lexus
and mom's van north for thanksgiving, leave the van,
and all come back in the lexus.

in class on thursday we talked about ocean acidification.
that's where co2 goes dissolves into/out of the ocean,
making it more or less like salty coca-cola.
turns out that warm water holds less co2 than cold water.
my sister learned this the hard way when she left a can
of diet coke in her lexus in a hot hospital parking lot
while she visited her new niece, daughter2.
upon returning to her car, she found that the can had
exploded in heated anger during her absence.
i told this story to my class to explain why globally
warmed oceans will absorb less co2 from the atmosphere.
needless to add, they liked the baby/coke story more than
the ocean/co2 lesson. so i may not be saving the planet,
but, with luck, fewer cokes will explode in hot cars.

Inaugural blog

OCZ and I are entering the blogosphere because we want to share our thoughts, opinions, and stories with everyone who is interested. When she asked if she could set up a blog, I thought it would be too hard---but it's pretty easy so far!
This morning we ate at the Alta Café. Granny took us all there as a special goodbye morning treat. Thanks Granny! I had my fave, the bagel salmon sandwich, and OCZ had a side plate of salmon and a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream, hold the hot chocolate. True! The salmon was cold, fresh, and slimy just as I like it. When I was in Norway this summer, I ate salmon galore every morning. We should all go fjording and fishing in Norway someday, what do you think?
